Quick science lesson coming at ya from your local science teacher.
Liquids take the shape of their containers. Because their molecules are okay to hang together as long as there is something holding them in, they will stay. However, once the container is full and there is no more room for them to cling to edges of the container, they spill out without regard for where they are headed. A container is a container to them and they will go wherever there is a container with space for them.
Our thoughts and our words behave like liquid molecules. WE are giant containers. Our mouths (and these days our thumbs) are the opening. Whatever we fill ourselves with is what spills out onto everything and everyone around us. That can be deadly OR it can provide what’s needed to bring someone back to life.
May we guard our hearts above all else, for it is the source of life. (Proverbs 4:23)
We spill regardless. May we spill with purpose and spill life over death.
